(Washington, D.C., January 10, 2013) The premier bird conservation meeting for the Americas, previously held only four times since 1990 and organized under the multi-partner bird conservation organization, Partners in Flight (PIF), is scheduled for August 25 – 28, 2013 in  Snowbird, Utah.  This year's meeting is being organized by PIF member American Bird Conservancy, with a theme of “Advancing Bird Conservation Across the Americas.” About 400-500 bird conservationists are expected to attend — details are posted at pifv.org

PIF V, will target the creation of a unified vision in the bird conservation community for full lifecycle bird conservation needs and will also identify innovative approaches to address those needs. With new scientific knowledge and collaborative networks emerging, and yet the continuing decline of many of America's birds, PIF V will focus on building hemisphere-wide collaboration, increased funding, and shared priorities to strategically address drivers of population declines. The meeting will encourage conference participants to work together in geographic-based work sessions to develop implementable projects for linked regions throughout the Western Hemisphere. The results will be used to guide future conservation activities by researchers, educators, conservation practitioners, state and federal agencies and philanthropic organizations.

The meeting will include keynote speakers, vendors (reserve your space quickly), social events, a poster session, and a variety of single- and multi-day birding field trips. Space is limited, so interested bird conservationists are urged to make their plans and reservations promptly. Program inquiries should go to Terry Rich or Merrie Morrison. Logistical inquiries should go to either kim@delaneymeetingevent.com or to victoria@delaneymeetingevent.com.

The meeting will be held at the beautiful Cliff Lodge at Snowbird, whose features include 360° views of the Wasatch Mountains, restaurants and lounges, outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs, as well as spectacular views from the many window-lined meeting spaces. Overnight accommodations are available for a discounted group rate of $119 per night plus tax for single occupancy ($10 per each additional occupant) with a limited offering of rooms available at government per diem rate.
