ABC's "50-50-5" Action Plan
Our plan is ambitious, but it is also possible — and deeply necessary to stem bird population declines and address the ecological crisis that these declines signal.

Over the next 25 years, we will:

• Recover populations of 50 Flagship Birds. These 50 species are important in their own right, plus they represent major ecosystems across the Western Hemisphere as well as other species of birds, plants, and animals that share their habitat and suffer from many of the same threats. Helping these 50 birds will simultaneously help many more bird species at the same time.
• Protect and conserve 50 million acres. ABC has already achieved this for more than 7 million acres with our partners, and we have identified the high priority landscapes where we will work next. These areas—called BirdScapes—cover more than 20 ecosystem types across the Western Hemisphere from Amazonian rainforest and Andean cloud forest to grasslands and freshwater wetlands.
• Reduce 5 key threats to birds: We will continue to tackle habitat loss, climate change, pesticides, outdoor cats and other invasive species, and collisions with windows, tall towers, power lines, and wind turbines.
