Brad Keitt

Oceans & Islands Director

After graduating college, Brad was part of the scientific team that discovered and described the first ‘akohekohe nest in Maui. From there, he switched to seabirds and worked extensively in NW Mexico, cataloging distributions of seabirds across the region. As a founding member of Island Conservation (IC), Brad led the organization’s NW Mexico program, using survey data to initiate efforts to designate 12 islands and approximately 700,000 hectares of marine habitat as national protected areas. Later, as Director of Conservation at IC, Brad helped grow a team of 25 field staff across the Americas and the Southwest Pacific that removed invasive vertebrates from more than 40 islands.
