Jonathan Franzen

Mr. Franzen, of Santa Cruz, California, is a novelist, essayist, journalist, translator, and screenwriter. His recent books include Crossroads (2021), The End of the End of the Earth (2018), and Purity (2015). His novel The Corrections won the 2001 National Book Award for fiction. Mr. Franzen has written extensively about birds for The New Yorker and National Geographic, including two articles on the killing of migratory birds in the Mediterranean, for which he was awarded the EuroNatur Prize in 2015. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
