As 2025 comes to an end, American Bird Conservancy (ABC) celebrates another year of receiving the highest charity honors by the nation’s leading nonprofit evaluators.
For the thirteenth year in a row, Charity Navigator awarded ABC its highest Four-Star rating, while also achieving a perfect 100 percent score this year, earned by less than one percent of all rated charities. GreatNonprofits, the leading platform for community-sourced recommendations, recognized ABC as a “Top-Rated Nonprofit” for the eighth consecutive year. ABC also earned Candid’s 2025 Platinum Seal of Transparency and CharityWatch’s Top-Rated Seal again, all reflecting ABC’s values of transparency and commitment to stewarding donations effectively to deliver bird conservation results across the Western Hemisphere.
“We’re proud of these awards, and we’re even prouder of our supporters who make bird conservation possible,” said Erin Chen, ABC’s Vice President of Development. “ABC is dedicated to a brighter future for birds, one where birds have the habitats they need to thrive and no longer face ongoing threats. We’re sincerely touched by our supporters’ heartfelt testimonials and couldn’t do this important work and take bold action for birds without them.”
Through research, scientific advances, outreach, and advocacy, ABC has been taking bold action for birds and their terrestrial, aquatic, and aerial habitats for over 30 years. Together with partners across the Americas, ABC developed and led proven strategies and on-the-ground solutions to address some of the gravest threats facing wild birds, while conserving more than 3,000 bird species to date.
The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Nonprofit Awards is based on the rating and number of reviews that ABC received from volunteers, donors, and partners and is the only place for the public to share stories about their personal experiences with more than 1.4 million nonprofit organizations.
As one supporter said, “ABC is a shining example of what a nonprofit can be: a leader in their mission to save endangered birds, a valuable partner who helps other organizations grow as they jointly advance the mission, and a key source of insight- generating critical scientific knowledge while also developing the next generation of researchers. All supported by using sound business practices to ensure maximum value from every dollar donated.”
“Their support has allowed us to move forward with conservation efforts in territories where the work is both challenging and urgently needed,” said another 2025 testimonial. “What truly sets ABC apart is the way they combine strong technical expertise with an exceptional human touch. They listen, they accompany, and they genuinely believe in the capacity of local people and communities to protect their ecosystems.”
