Daniel Greene
Southeast Director of Sustainable Forest Partnerships
Dan Greene joins the ABC after serving eight years as a Wildlife Scientist with Weyerhaeuser Company, where he supported biodiversity research, technical guidance, and sustainability initiatives across approximately nine million acres of forestland in the eastern United States. His work focused on integrating wildlife conservation into operational forestry and sustainability frameworks at large spatial scales.
Previously, Dan was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Texas Tech University, a Nongame Wildlife Biologist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and an Environmental Specialist with the Florida Park Service, where he gained experience in applied research, species management, and public-land stewardship.
Dan’s research and conservation efforts have focused on bird species including golden-winged and cerulean warblers, wood thrush, red-headed woodpecker, chuck-will’s-widow, lesser prairie-chicken, and purple martin. He emphasizes translating science into practical management and policy decisions, bridging applied research, forest management, and collaborative conservation to achieve stand- and landscape-scale outcomes for priority bird species. His professional work includes partnerships with universities, state and federal agencies, forest industry, NGOs, and local communities to promote resilient, bird-friendly working lands.
Dan earned a B.A. in Biology from Earlham College, an M.S. in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia, and a Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida.
