Gregor Yanega

C3JV Conservation Project Manager

Gregor joins the team as the Conservation Program Director at the California Central Coast Joint Venture where his work centers on a mix of avian conservation projects designed to reverse species declines and support many of California’s most unique and essential landscapes. Featured species include Yellow-billed Magpie, Allen’s Hummingbird, Western Purple Martin, Marbled Murrelet, Western Snowy Plover, and Tricolored Blackbird capturing aspects of California’s wetland and riparian habitats, it’s extensive coastal and marine environments, the southern extent of California redwoods, and many junctions of rangelands, agricultural production, rivers, and grasslands where humans, birds, and rural economies intersect.

Gregor brings a blend of skills and experiences that enable him to contribute to conservation efforts across audiences and scales in a way that helps direct the science of the Joint Venture and connect this science to people. With a long history in wildlife and avian ecology, arts, and teaching, Gregor is a great fit in many rooms with the curiosity, optimism, and respect needed to open doors between them. He also likes to hike, garden, and make little books.
