Holly Schacht

I am the coordinating wildlife biologist for the Running Water BUL in northeast Nebraska. My role is to implement the Nebraska Natural Legacy Project (NNLP) and the Great Plains Grassland Initiative (GPGI) by working with landowners on ways to fight woody encroachment through prescribed fires and brush management practices. I work with both the NRCS, NGPC (Nebraska Game & Parks Commission), and now ABC, to help streamline technical and financial resources. I am based out of the USDA office in Bloomfield, NE and cover 4 counties around northeast Nebraska. By using the guiding principle of ” Defend the Core, Grow the Core”, we work to fight woody encroachment on working rangelands to improve livestock production, decrease wildfire risk, improve grassland biodiversity, and decrease threats to animal species on the landscape.
