Jordan Winkenbach
Great Lakes Oak Ecosystem Coordinator
Jordan Winkenbach joins ABC as the Great Lakes Oak Ecosystem Coordinator following a career focused in ecological restoration and oak ecology. Jordan has two bachelor’s degrees from the Univ. of WI – Stevens Point in Forest Ecosystem Restoration and in Biology. She received a master’s degree at the Univ. of KY, where her research focused on long-term prescribed burning in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Her previous experience has included wetland delineation and rare plant monitoring in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, habitat typing Continuous Forest Inventory plots throughout state land in WI, ecological restoration work with the WI Department of Natural Resources and the Ozaukee County Planning & Parks Ecological Division, and most recently, she spent three years as a consulting forester in Southern IL with Long Forestry Consultation LLC, working with private landowners to manage their forested properties and to enroll in state and federal conservation programs. Jordan is particularly interested in disturbance ecology and in bridging the gap between research and on-the-ground management. She currently lives in Dane county, WI.
