Madison Washburn
Coordinating Wildlife Biologist
Madison received a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University and a MS in Natural Resources Ecology & Management from Oklahoma State University. Her master’s thesis focused on the ecology of nonbreeding scaled quail in southwestern Kansas. She has always had a passion for grassland birds, which started after her first seasonal position studying greater sage-grouse in North Dakota. Before graduate school, she worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on the Attwater’s Prairie Chicken recovery program and helped manage coastal prairie. Madison’s love of grasslands also led her to work with The Nature Conservancy as a land steward for some of the last Blackland Prairie remaining in North Texas. In her new role with ABC, she is excited to help private landowners interested in land management for declining grassland birds.
