Marcelo is an international conservation biologist with over 20 years of experience focused on analysis of and planning for biodiversity conservation. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in his native Argentina, and his Ph. D. in Ecology from the University of California, Davis. After completing his graduate studies, Marcelo was involved in conservation planning research in Chile, both in the terrestrial and marine realms. He has also conducted research in Argentina combining species distribution modeling and conservation planning to identify conservation priority areas for several groups of species. Prior to joining ABC, Marcelo was a Program Officer within the Biodiversity Assessment Unit, a joint initiative between IUCN and Conservation International, where he participated and managed projects on global assessments of risk of extinction of species, vulnerability to climate change, and identification of Key Biodiversity Areas.
