Eamonn Thurmond

Minnesota Public Lands Conservation Forester

Eamonn comes from Tyler, TX, and obtained a BS and MS in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University. In his thesis he observed forest bird communities in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley along a successional chronosequence of bottomland hardwood forests. From this study he was able to observe any changes in bird community composition as it related to forest age and management, as well as, create occupancy models for species of concern in the LMAV. Eamonn will fill the role of Conservation Forester and oversee habitat projects on public and tribal lands throughout Minnesota to create and maintain nesting and brood rearing habitat in young forests, brushlands, and oak savanna.
