American Bird Conservancy Awarded a 2022 Top Ranking from GreatNonprofits

The organization also received other top awards based on measures including transparency, accountability, and governance.
American Bird Conservancy is proud to be named a “2022 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits.

For the fifth year in a row, American Bird Conservancy (ABC) has been named a “Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading website for community recommendations of charities and nonprofits.

ABC has worked for nearly 30 years to protect wild birds and their habitats across the Americas, resulting in numerous species safeguarded from extinction, millions of acres conserved, and progress made to eliminate threats to birds and to build conservation capacity.

"We are honored by the incredible testimonials and visions of ABC's loyal supporters,” said Elizabeth Vaccaro, ABC's Major Gifts Officer. “Our impact is only possible thanks to them.”

The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that ABC received from volunteers, donors, and partners.

“In my opinion, this is simply the best pro-bird organization out there,” states one 2022 testimonial. “I have been a monthly donor for years. ABC keeps me informed about pending legislation that impacts birds, works to preserve habitat, takes the lead on trying to stop window collisions — especially during migrations — and works to counter misguided trap-neuter-and release programs for feral cats and to educate people to keep cats indoors.”

Another donor said, “Like so many people who are increasingly concerned by the alarming statistics pointing to the ongoing loss of wild birds, I have come to rely on ABC for the most cogent overview of why this is happening and what I can do to help.”

GreatNonprofits is a place for people to share stories about their personal experiences with more than 1.6 million charities and nonprofits. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards are the only awards for nonprofits determined by those who have direct experience with the charities.

ABC has also received recognition from other charity evaluators for nonprofit excellence. The group has been recognized as a "Four Star Charity" for 10 consecutive years with Charity Navigator — one of the world's largest and most trusted nonprofit evaluators — for financial stability, efficiency, and sustainability, as well as accountability and transparency policies that ensure integrity.

ABC is also Top-Rated by CharityWatch — an independent charity watchdog that has rated charities for more than 25 years — for the organization's donor transparency, governance, and financial commitment to making the biggest impact possible for birds. Finally, the organization has been commended with the 2022 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid — the world's largest source of information on nonprofit organizations — which is only awarded to the top 15 percent of participating nonprofits.
